Virtual Understanding the Impact of Trauma Training Delivered Remotely Using Zoom (Certificated)

The virtual live training will be hosted by Kerry Dawson, Specialist Safeguarding Trainer and Consultant. Whilst it's not quite the same as face to face training, the course will be interactive, with plenty of opportunities for delegates to share good practice and ask any questions. Kerry has extensive experience of supporting children and families who have experienced trauma as a result of being subjected to abuse and neglect. Kerry is a trained trainer with the NSPCC.
The course will be delivered over a three-hour session. Delegates will receive a certificate upon completion.

Course outline: Around one in four children will have experienced developmental trauma, affecting their health, well-being, behaviour and ability to learn. This half day course will support schools and frontline practitioners to understand the different types of trauma, its impact and how to develop child centred and empathic responses. Course content will include:
- Understanding the different types of trauma, including complex developmental trauma and adverse childhood experiences
- Explore how trauma can impact on children and adolescents and how it may present in the classroom environment
- Consider practical strategies that will support practitioners to respond to trauma-related behaviours using child-centred and empathic approaches
- Learn from the latest research and consider how this can support you to develop a trauma-informed culture, policy and practice to improve outcomes for children
Who should attend? Headteachers, deputy headteachers, designated safeguarding leads and deputies, pastoral staff and all frontline professionals working with children and families.
