Our annual safeguarding conference is a fantastic day for delegates to network, reflect and keep up to date with the latest safeguarding practice. We have relevant, on topic keynote speakers along with a selection of workshops highlighting current areas affecting our organisations who are supporting children.
Keynote Speakers
Sophie Olson is a CSA survivor, author, and founder of The Flying Child CIC, an organisation leading conversations about child sexual abuse (CSA) through survivor-led training, campaigning, and support. She developed and leads Side by Side CSA, a UK-wide survivor-led training programme that supports professionals to recognise and respond to CSA and its lifelong impacts.
A powerful keynote rooted in lived experience. Sophie speaks candidly about the lifelong impact of child sexual abuse and the realities of disclosure - highlighting the difference a trauma-attuned response can make. Honest, challenging and ultimately hopeful, she explores how professionals and organisations can build safer, more compassionate systems where children and adult survivors are heard, believed, and supported.
Sean Anthony Sherwood is a pastoral leader, sports educator, and wellbeing specialist who works internationally with schools, colleges, and youth organisations. Known for his powerful personal story and relatable delivery, Sean engages professionals & young people on resilience, identity, behaviour, mental health, and personal growth.
PC Andy Kevan, an expert in online safety and cybercrime with Cheshire Police, will deliver a highly engaging keynote addressing the latest digital risks affecting young people. Drawing on his experience working alongside schools and safeguarding teams, Andy will discuss emerging issues such as deepfakes and AI-generated content, highlighting their impact on student safety and school reputation. The session will include practical guidance and real-life examples to help designated safeguarding leads and senior staff confidently tackle these challenges.
